In our previous blog post, "What's for Dinner' - Grocery Shopping in Spanish Wells", we reviewed all the best places around the island to grocery shop on a budget. Now as much as cooking at home is a fun family affair, no one wants to be over the sink doing dishes every night, that's why we want to bring you our Spanish Wells restaurant guide...
The narrow streets of Spanish Wells are full of life and color and peppered in between the boats and palm trees lie amazing restaurants and dining experiences!!
Sandbar Bar & Grill
Hours:
Tuesday- Saturday 11am-10pm
Sunday 9am-5pm
Monday CLOSED
Card & Cash accepted - $$

Located just across the street from our home is the Sandbar Bar & Grill. The menu features Carribean specialties, tacos, fresh seafood, and daily specials. There is plenty of seating for larger parties, or if you’re looking for a more intimate time they have seating off on the beach.
TIP: Sunday is brunch day! The whole island makes it a goal to pop over to the Sandbar to grab some fresh mimosas or chow down on some homemade french toast. Their deals for brunch are amazing and the food is even better. Definitely pen in brunch on Sunday here.
Wreckers Restaurant & Bar
Hours:
Sunday 8am-10pm
Monday-Thursday 9am-10pm
Friday-Saturday 8am-11pm
Card & Cash accepted - $$

Wreckers is a little more upscale, it is a great place for a more situated family dinner. Their menu consists of fresh daily specials, fine entrees, and a great selection of appetizers. Not only does their deck overlook the docks, but boats can anchor and walk right up to the restaurant. Make sure to pack your camera, dining here is always a great photo opportunity to get a sunset picture!
TIP: Wreckers is the only place on the island that serves Starbucks coffee. Stop in between 8am-11am to grab an iced coffee or a shot of espresso!

Budda’s Snack Shack
Hours:
Monday - Saturday 10:30am-9:30pm
Sunday CLOSED
Card & Cash accepted - $$
Check out their Website- CLICK HERE
Budda’s is the place to be for literally anything. They serve quick and delicious meals alongside strong and tasty drinks. The only stipulation is that Budda’s is more of a bar, rather than a restaurant, so we recommend if you have small children to look elsewhere for a family meal (that does not mean children are not allowed inside the snack shack). Buddha’s is known for hosting events for sports and other special occasions.
TIP: Buddha’s also has a liquor store attached to the Snack Shack. We have found they have the best selection of beer, wine, and spirits. The liquor store hours are the same as the Snack Shack.
The Shipyard
Hours:
Monday- Sunday 11am - 9:30pm
Card & Cash accepted - $$
Check out their Facebook- CLICK HERE
This sign, signaling the directions of the other islands is a staple in Spanish Wells, just like Shipyard is. This two story restaurant has enough space for large parties. Upstairs you will find an open deck, a pool table, and a bar. Downstairs is where the families traditionally congregate, whether that be outside or inside, the views are all the same. Being on the tip of the island you really get to see views that no other restaurant has. Shipyard has one of the largest menus on the island, serving anything from American to Asian.
Shipyard is also our go to date night spot. We consider it one of the more romantic spots due to its location being right at the tip of the island. The isolation makes you feel like you're alone in paradise.
TIP: Shipyard’s bar is open for Grab & Go. If you’re ever on an adventure, zooming around on your golf cart and start to crave something a little more exotic, well Shipyard’s got your back. Just walk on up (shoes not necessary) and grab whatever your heart desires.

The Generation Gap
Hours:
????
Breakfast, Lunch & Dinner
Card & Cash accepted - $
The Generation Gap is so locally loved that it doesn't even have its hours publicly posted! All jokes aside this place has some of the cheapest and BEST breakfast sandwiches on the island. Its quick, tasty, and filling. Make sure to get the Johnny Cakes, they're made fresh everyday and will leave you craving for more..
They are open for lunch & dinner, but their hours do vary from time to time. The inconsistency is a little difficult to plan around, but no matter - they're always open for breakfast (the most important meal of the day).
Since Spanish Wells is mainly a local island, consisting of around 2000 people, reservations are not necessarily important. More often than not you will be sat right away, but if you do plan to have a large party go out to dinner one night, we recommend giving the restaurant a heads up! We also encourage all our guests to try local delicacies, such as the conch fritters or conch soup! Conch is a medium sized sea snail that inhabits the surrounding coral reefs off Spanish Wells. We know 'eating snails' can sound somewhat intimidating, but trust us on this one, THEY ARE DELICIOUS!!
We want your experience down in the Bahamas to be yours, so if staying home and cooking is your thing, DO IT. It is always a nice relief knowing that there are options for meals around the island, just do what we all do best and relax. :)
CHEERS!
